How many questions are on the test?

There are 50 multiple-choice questions, and you will be given 70 minutes to complete the test.

  • Approximately 40% of the questions will be based on reading passages of up to 250 words each.
  • Approximately 40% will be based on visuals—graphs, maps, charts, photos, pictures, diagrams, advertisements, political cartoons, or practical documents.
Some examples of practical documents are voters' handbooks or registration forms, tax forms, driver's manuals, insurance forms, bank statements, workplace benefits packages or contracts, almanacs, atlases, political speeches, and local, state, or national budgets.
    • The remaining 20% of the questions will be reading passages and visuals together.
